National Security Workshop–27: Understanding National Security Dynamics, Institutional Harmony, and Pakistan’s Emerging Strategic Direction

By: Waqar Malik

The National Security Workshop holds a central and highly significant place within Pakistan’s national security framework. The workshop provides participants with a comprehensive and practical understanding of state security requirements, geo-strategic shifts, internal and external challenges, and the complexities of policy formulation. Through this program, parliamentarians, civil and military officers, academics, and representatives from civil society come together on a single platform, enabling them to learn from one another’s experiences while strengthening national cohesion, unity, and responsible decision-making.

The greatest strength of the workshop lies in its ability to build a shared and coherent national narrative on security. It equips participants to understand critical subjects—such as hybrid warfare, terrorism, information campaigns, economic security, and regional dynamics—through a realistic and informed lens. For this reason, the National Security Workshop serves not only as an effective forum for analyzing current affairs but also as a vital contributor in shaping a secure, stable, and progressive future for Pakistan.
As part of the program, participants of National Security Workshop–27 (NSW–27) visited the General Headquarters (GHQ), where they received detailed briefings on Pakistan’s regional and internal security environment and related national security matters. The delegation also attended an interactive session with the Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, NI(M), HJ.

In his address, the Army Chief highlighted the rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape, cross-border terrorism, hybrid threats, and the growing global competition. He emphasized that despite challenges such as foreign-sponsored militancy and information warfare, Pakistan’s Armed Forces, intelligence agencies, and law-enforcement institutions remain steadfast and fully committed to defending national security.
The Army Chief reaffirmed that Pakistan is a dignified and significant country with the capability to secure its rightful place in the community of nations. He stated that the professionalism, determination, and sacrifices displayed by Pakistan Army during Marka-e-Haq have further strengthened the country’s global standing. He stressed that national unity is Pakistan’s greatest strength, and through collective resolve, the nation will continue to foil the malicious designs of its enemies.

Participants were also briefed on national initiatives against smuggling, narcotics trafficking, and organized crime, along with improvements in border management and the repatriation of illegal foreign nationals—measures aimed at reinforcing internal stability and protecting national interests.
The Army Chief affirmed that the territorial integrity of Pakistan, national security, and the protection of every citizen remain the Army’s highest priorities, and no compromise will ever be made in this regard. He added that sustainable peace, development, and prosperity require strong institutional coordination and unified national efforts.
The workshop was also attended by Chairman of Pak-E Federation, Mr. Parvez Losar. While speaking to journalists afterward, he stated that the visionary, disciplined, and courageous leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir has elevated Pakistan’s prestige at the global level. He said Pakistan is now seen as a confident, dignified, and advancing nation.
He added that the Army Chief’s leadership has instilled renewed confidence and energy within the nation, and every Pakistani now looks toward the future with pride. Mr. Losar expressed his firm belief that Field Marshal Asim Munir’s leadership has been a blessing for Pakistan, and under his guidance, the country is emerging as a strong economy and an effective state—an ascending tiger of Asia.
