Islamabad- Controversial Pakistani cleric Mufti Abdul Qavi, who is no stranger to sensational statements, has made a shocking new claim that has left people scratching their heads. In a recent podcast interview, he stated that he was once married to Bollywood superstar Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Yes, you read that right.
The cleric, known for his appearances on TV talk shows, elaborated on his alleged connections with the Indian film industry. He shared that in his youth, he was quite the looker and was known as “Seth Shahid.” His frequent business trips to Dubai and India, he said, often stirred certain “desires.”
According to Qavi, his connection with Kareena began around 1996, when the actress would have been in her early 20s. He claims their relationship deepened, and by 1999, they had entered into a nikah (Islamic marriage contract).
“Hindus also have a divine scripture,” Qavi reasoned in the interview, “and a Muslim man can marry a Hindu woman. I also married Kareena Kapoor.”
He further painted a picture of Kareena as a “Pakistani bhabhi” (sister-in-law) during their alleged marriage. He even suggested that perhaps she was impressed by his “Seth Shahid” persona and that she wasn’t such a big star back then, making the marriage possible.
The claims get stranger. Qavi said that when Kareena later married actor Saif Ali Khan in 2012, some Indian clerics declared it invalid (haram) because of her previous nikah with him. Qavi, however, claims he gave his blessing, declaring her marriage to Saif permissible (halal), precisely because she had been his wife.
He didn’t stop there. The cleric also expressed his fondness for another Bollywood icon, Aishwarya Rai, stating that if a marriage proposal were to come from her, he would be ready.
While making these extraordinary claims, Mufti Qavi provided no details about how or why this alleged marriage ended. There was no mention of a divorce (talaq), its timing, or the circumstances.
The claims have been met with widespread disbelief and amusement on social media, with most users dismissing them as another attention-seeking stunt from the cleric. There has been no comment from Kareena Kapoor Khan or her representatives on the matter.
Given Mufti Qavi’s history of controversial and often unsubstantiated statements, this latest revelation is being treated more as a bizarre tabloid tale than a piece of serious news.
