Karachi, February 2026 — Arrivals of distinguished domestic and international guests at Karachi Airport are ongoing for the major international parliamentary conference hosted by the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, running from February 3 to 7, 2026.
The event is the 7th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Asia Regional Conference combined with the 2nd Joint CPA Asia and South-East Asia Regional Conference. Parliamentarians, Speakers, Deputy Speakers, and experts from various countries in Asia and South-East Asia are reaching Karachi to participate, with comprehensive reception arrangements made by the host Sindh Assembly.
Among the key arrivals, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan Sardar Ayaz Sadiq reached Karachi along with his delegation. The delegation includes Special Secretary Waseem Iqbal, Abdul Manan, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, and MNA Naaz Baloch.
The National Assembly delegation was received at the airport by Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly Anthony Naveed, along with MPAs Heer Soho, Tanzila Umi-e-Habiba, and Asif Moosa, who welcomed the guests on behalf of the Sindh Assembly.
Separately, the United Nations Women delegation also arrived in Karachi to attend the conference. The group includes UN Women Country Representative Jamshed Kazi, Deputy Country Head Fehmida Iqbal, and Portfolio Manager Suman Ahsan, among others. The international delegation was transported to a local hotel, where the Sindh Assembly has provided full facilities and hospitality for all participants.
The conference, themed “Parliaments of the Future: Redefining Democracy through Trust, Inclusion, Innovation and Peace,” is being held at the Sindh Assembly and associated venues in Karachi. It marks a significant return for such an international parliamentary event to the Sindh Assembly after more than a decade (last hosted in 2012) and is expected to bring together over 150 delegates from 17 legislative bodies across the regions, fostering dialogue on strengthening democratic institutions.
