Islamabad: In a significant step toward promoting digital inclusion and economic empowerment, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker inaugurated the Tech Her Forward program at the Zaha Hadid Skills Center on June 23, 2026.
The initiative is part of a collaborative U.S.-Pakistan partnership led by American organizations Stewart and Alight, with the objective of equipping young Pakistanis—particularly women—with in-demand information technology (IT) skills and practical training needed to succeed in the rapidly evolving digital economy.
Designed to enhance employability and entrepreneurship, the program aims to provide participants with market-relevant technical expertise, digital tools, and career development opportunities that can help them achieve long-term financial independence.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker highlighted the United States’ continued commitment to supporting Pakistan’s human capital development through education, technology, and innovation. She noted that strengthening digital skills is essential for creating new economic opportunities and preparing the workforce for the future.
Baker emphasized that partnerships between governments, educational institutions, private organizations, and civil society play a crucial role in fostering sustainable and inclusive economic growth. She said that investments in education and technology not only empower individuals but also contribute to broader national development.
The Tech Her Forward initiative reflects the growing cooperation between the United States and Pakistan in advancing digital literacy, workforce development, and women’s economic participation. By expanding access to quality technical education and practical training, the program seeks to bridge the digital skills gap and enable more Pakistanis to participate in the country’s expanding digital economy.
Officials expressed optimism that the initiative will help create a more skilled, innovative, and economically resilient workforce while opening new pathways for employment, entrepreneurship, and inclusive growth across Pakistan.
