New York Pakistani Community Holds Soyem for Couple Lost in Kaghan Accident

New York, NY – The Pakistani community in New York gathered at Pakistan House today for the Soyem (third-day mourning ceremony and prayers) of Jamshed Khan and his wife, who tragically lost their lives in an accident in Kaghan Valley, Pakistan.

The solemn ceremony, organized by Nasim Khan Alizai, marked the culmination of three days of mourning and remembrance at Pakistan House. Throughout the preceding days, a continuous series of *Fatiha Khwani* (recitation of prayers, particularly Surah Al-Fatiha) had been held in memory of the departed couple. Family members, including Nasim Khan, Abrar Khan, Shahroz Khan, and other close relatives, remained present during these observances.

Today’s Soyem, held specifically for the Esal-e-Sawab (prayers for the elevation of their souls) of Jamshed Khan and his wife, drew a significant gathering. Alongside grieving family members, prominent political and social leaders from the Pakistani community in New York attended the prayer ceremony to express their condolences and solidarity.

Attendees joined together in heartfelt prayers, seeking forgiveness (Maghfirat) from Allah Almighty for the deceased couple. Special supplications were also made for their two surviving daughters, asking for them to be granted strength, patience, and fortitude (Sabr-e-Jameel) during this immense loss.

Following the prayers, Nasim Khan Alizai addressed the gathering, formally expressing deep gratitude to all those who participated in the *Soyem* and shared in the family’s grief during this difficult time.

The ceremony served as a poignant moment of collective mourning and spiritual support for the family of Jamshed Khan and his wife, uniting the community in the face of tragedy.
