Nassau County, New York — The South Asian American Small Business Association (SAASBA), under the dynamic leadership of Sheheryar Ali and his father Ch Akram hosted a distinguished fundraising reception in honor of Joseph G. Cairo Jr., bringing together Nassau County Republican leadership, candidates, elected officials, business leaders, and prominent members of the South Asian American community.
The well-attended event highlighted the growing political engagement, civic participation, and community influence of South Asian Americans in Nassau County. It underscored the community’s commitment to supporting strong leadership, public safety, economic development, small business growth, and a prosperous future through active collaboration with local government and policymakers.
The strengthening relationship between Nassau County Republican leadership and the South Asian American community reflects the community’s expanding role not only in civic participation but also in public policy, leadership, and decision-making processes.
A special tribute was paid to Chaudhry Akram, Senior Advisor to the Nassau County Executive, in recognition of his outstanding leadership, dedicated service, and tireless efforts to build meaningful partnerships between diverse communities and the Republican leadership. His contributions to community outreach, trust-building, and fostering stronger relationships across Nassau County’s multicultural population were widely acknowledged.
Own Naqvi , Executive Director of the Office of Asian American Affairs, Nassau County, was also recognized for his significant role in community engagement, organizational coordination, and the successful planning of the event. His efforts helped strengthen connections among community leaders, business professionals, and elected officials.
