A New Dawn for Journalism: Unity, Vision, and Elegance at the Islamabad Polo Club

ISLAMABAD: In a landmark event that blended sophistication with a profound sense of purpose, the serene environs of the Islamabad Polo Club played host to a magnificent evening dedicated to the nation’s journalistic community. The gathering, orchestrated by a triumvirate of visionary minds, marked a significant step towards fostering unity and innovative thinking within the media fraternity.

The chief guest for the evening was Mr. Khushnood Ali Khan, the esteemed Editor-in-Chief of the daily Sahafat. The event was co-organized by Mr. Adil Shah, the owner of both the Fourth Pillar International organization of journalists and the Islamabad Polo Club, and Mr. Farooq Mirza, a respected figure in journalistic circles.

A Vision Forged in Collaboration and Camaraderie

The concept for this unique initiative was born from a prior meeting between Mr. Farooq Mirza and Mr. Adil Shah at the same club, where, over a shared barbecue, they laid the groundwork for a larger mission. This vision was powerfully championed by Mr. Khushnood Ali Khan. A pivotal role in the event’s execution was also played by Ms. Farhat Fatima, Director of the Associated Press of Pakistan and Human Rights.

The core mission was to lay the foundation for a permanent club in Pakistan—a sanctuary where journalists can immerse themselves in art, find entertainment, freely express their opinions on critical national issues, and strengthen their bonds of mutual unity.

A Gathering of Distinguished Personalities

The ceremony was graced by a host of eminent figures, underscoring its significance. Among the attendees were former Presidents of the Islamabad Press Club, Mr. Anwar Raza and Mr. Shakil Karar. Also present was Mr. Nawaz Raza, a well-known personality and Head of the Unity and Peace Foundation.

Adding international gravitas to the occasion was Brigadier Azam Affendi, Director of the Fourth Pillar International Chapter for Gulf Countries, the Middle East, and Central Asian Affairs. Brigadier Effendi took great pleasure in distributing prizes and certificates to journalists in recognition of their work.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of a shield to Mr. Farooq Mirza by Mr. Khushnood Ali Khan and Brigadier Azam Affendi, honoring his exceptional services to journalists at the global level.

Adil Shah’s Vision: A Hub for Tourism and Culture

Mr. Adil Shah’s transformation of the Islamabad Polo Club into a beautiful venue was a focal point of admiration. The facility, complete with horse stables and a polo ground, is poised to become a premier destination for tourism and culture. Drawing a parallel to the horse racing at the Shandur Polo Festival, the club aims to attract international visitors and significantly boost Pakistan’s tourism.

“The polo game is about to start from here,” the vision proclaims. Ambitious development plans are underway, including the construction of approximately 16 high-class resorts, a fresh fish compound offering local culinary delights, and boating facilities. The goal is to create a comprehensive experience where tourists can relish the weather, scenery, and unique flavors of the region.

An Unforgettable Ambiance

Set against a backdrop that rivals the scenic beauty of Gulf countries, the event provided a stunning visual spectacle. The venue was filled with the who’s who of the media industry, including women representatives from various newspapers and TV channels, Mr. Ali Furqan of Voice of America, and Mr. Ahmet Mateen, Bureau Chief of GTV.

The culinary offerings were a talking point in themselves. The barbecue was widely praised for its exquisite taste and masterful preparation. In a personal touch that captivated the guests, Mr. Adil Shah himself prepared and served traditional jaggery tea, embodying the spirit of hospitality.

A Resonating Endorsement

Expressing his deep appreciation, Chief Guest Mr. Khushnood Ali Khan said, “Such events are very rare. This is an event that truly suits my taste.” His words echoed the sentiments of all present, who left with a renewed sense of camaraderie and the exciting promise of a new, unified platform dedicated to the empowerment and enrichment of Pakistan’s journalistic community.
