The American Pakistani Advocacy Group Cares hosted a beautiful “America at 250: Civic Education & Community Leadership” celebration, bringing together elected officials, public servants, business leaders, nonprofit partners, professionals, youth, and community members.
The event commemorated America’s 250th anniversary while highlighting the important role Pakistani Americans play in strengthening the nation through civic engagement, public service, entrepreneurship, youth leadership, women’s leadership, and community service.
Led by Ali Rashid, President of APAG, the program featured remarks from Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, NYC Comptroller Mark Levine, State Senators Toby Ann Stavisky, Kristen Gonzalez, and John Liu, Council Members Linda Lee and Phil Wong, Assembly Member Steve Raga, Assembly Member David Weprin and Vice Consul General of Pakistan Umar Sheikh, along with representatives from the offices of Congressman Tom Suozzi.
The evening included youth civic education presentations, leadership recognition awards, women volunteer citations, cultural performances, a cake-cutting ceremony, and networking. Speakers emphasized the importance of civic participation, public service, and unity, recognizing the growing contributions of Pakistani Americans to America’s future.
The event concluded with appreciation for all elected officials, honorees, volunteers, and community members whose support made the celebration a success.
