Gilgit-Baltistan: A horrifying incident of so-called “honor killing” has shocked the community in Tangir, where an innocent woman was brutally murdered.
Khadija Akbar Khan, Information Secretary of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Women’s Wing and candidate from Constituency 4 Roundo, strongly condemned the act, calling it “not honor, but disgrace.”
In her statement, Khan said that Islam teaches respect for women, but society has abandoned its true teachings, instead justifying oppression under the false name of “honor.” She emphasized that such crimes are not just individual acts but a stain on society’s conscience.
Khan demanded immediate action, urging the Gilgit-Baltistan government and law enforcement to arrest the culprits and ensure strict punishment. She called for stronger laws, enforcement, and public awareness to prevent such brutal acts in the future.
This tragic incident highlights the urgent need for justice and societal change to protect women’s lives.
