Woodbridge / Iselin, New Jersey — The Pakistani-American community in New Jersey is in deep mourning following the tragic death of Shahid Latif , the beloved son of Saith Latif , a well-known businessman and philanthropist.
Saith Latif is the owner of , the popular Shalimar Restaurant Chain in New Jersey. He is widely respected in the community for his extensive philanthropic work, humanitarian efforts, and support for various mosques and community initiatives.
According to community reports and obituaries, Shahid Latif passed away in a road accident that occurred in the Woodbridge, New Jersey area. The incident took place while his father, Saith Latif, was in Pakistan. The sudden loss has been described as a massive shock not only for the family but for the entire Pakistani-American community.
Funeral Prayers and Memorial Services were observed in a large gathering held at the New Jersey Muslim Center (MCMC) , New Jersey, for the Quran Khawani (recitation) for the deceased.
Thousands of members of the Pakistani-American community, representatives from various Pakistani organizations, imams from different mosques, and close friends of the Latif family attended the event.
During the ceremony, verses from the Holy Quran (including Surah Yaseen) were recited, followed by heartfelt and emotional supplications (duas) by imams and scholars. Prayers were offered for the forgiveness of Shahid Latif, his entry into Jannat ul Firdous , and for patience (sabr-e-jameel) for his grieving family.
Both brothers Abid Latif and Zahid Latif were present among the mourners and actively participated in the funeral arrangements.
Saith Latif is one of the most prominent figures in New Jersey’s Pakistani community. He spends a significant amount of time in Pakistan but maintains strong ties with the diaspora through his business and charitable activities. The community has expressed deep condolences and stands united with the Latif family during this difficult time.
Many people took to social media and community forums to offer prayers and share memories, describing Shahid as a beloved son, brother, and friend.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un
*(Surely we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return)”
May Allah grants Shahid Latif the highest ranks in Jannah, forgive his sins, and illuminate his grave. May He grant the entire Latif family, especially Seth Latif, Zahid, and Abid, patience and strength in this time of immense grief. Ameen.
This heartbreaking incident once again reminds us of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing our loved ones.
