Consulate General of Pakistan in New York and Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations Participate in Friendly Cricket Matches Organized by NYPD
A combined team of the Consulate General of Pakistan in New York and the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations participated in two friendly cricket matches organized by the New York Police Department (NYPD).
The Pakistan team played against a combined NYPD–Toronto Police team and the New York Cricket Academy in an atmosphere marked by camaraderie, sportsmanship, and community engagement.
The event was supported by Millat Sports and the Pak-America Cricket Team under the leadership of Mr. Sohail Anjum. Former Pakistan international cricketer Adnan Akmal joined the Pakistan team as a guest player and emerged as the highest scorer of the matches.
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, and Consul General Aamer Ahmed Atozai also participated in the matches. They interacted with participants and members of the community and appreciated the NYPD for organizing the initiative. In their remarks, they highlighted the importance of sports in promoting friendship, mutual understanding, and people-to-people connections. They noted that such events serve as an effective platform for sports diplomacy and community engagement, bringing together diverse communities through the shared spirit of teamwork and healthy competition.
The participants commended the event for fostering goodwill and strengthening ties among diplomats, law enforcement personnel, and community members.
