New Jersey: Dr. Khalid Luqman Chaudhry and his wife, MNA Shakeela Luqman Chaudhry, hosted a successful fundraising dinner at their residence in support of the Human Necessity Foundation’s (HNF) Water Project in Pakistan. The event, held in collaboration with the Pakistani American Society featured renowned comedian and philanthropist Iftikhar Thakur as the Guest of Honour.
A diverse gathering of professionals attended the dinner. During his remarks, Dr. Luqman revealed that what began as a family gathering evolved into a formal fundraiser for a vital cause. He humorously noted his wife’s intense personal involvement in the arrangements, joking that “she almost drove him crazy” with her dedication.
The evening was expertly hosted and anchored by Mr. Shahzad Anver, a young promoter and established businessman aspiring to enter film and drama production. Anver conducted the proceedings professionally, ensuring all attendees felt respected and honoured. He facilitated introductions, fostering connections among the guests. Attendees, particularly the women present, were thrilled to hear Iftikhar Thakur and remained patiently until the end.
Mr. Shams Zaman, President of the Pak American Society USA delivered a passionate speech emphasising the importance of charity in Islam. He pledged PAS’s full support to HNF, committing to ensure the success of all its projects in Pakistan. Zaman also paid tribute to the late Junaid Jamshed, stating he earned respect through his noble humanitarian work and received a martyr’s graceful funeral.
Mr. Sulman Butt, a prominent film industry investor, human rights activist, and recent PAS member, announced that his teams in both Pakistan and the USA would actively collect significant donations for the water project. Butt highlighted providing water to the needy as one of the best deeds in Islam. He also shared news about his upcoming film on Red Lipstick platform which is scheduled for a worldwide release soon.
MNA Shakeela Luqman Chaudhry charmed the audience with her lighthearted humour. She expressed delight at hosting numerous dignitaries, particularly noting her happiness at having Mr. Iftikhar Thqur seated beside her.
The President of Human Necessity Foundation Capt Sheikh Javaid presented a detailed overview of their ongoing projects in Pakistan. He surprised attendees by disclosing that HNF has already installed nearly 800 clean water filtration plants in remote and impoverished areas previously lacking access to safe drinking water, where people suffered from waterborne diseases. He further outlined initiatives like the “$5000 Home for Life” project, ambulance procurement, cemetery construction, and shelter homes, noting their growing international recognition.
Adding a poignant touch, Junaid Jamshed’s brother Mr Hamyyun Jamshad travelled specially from Pakistan to promote charitable efforts. He sang the national song and spoke passionately about continuing his brother’s legacy and mission.
Prominent speakers also included Mr. Haseeb Jagi , Sohail Syed businessman and pharmacist Ch. Ashraf, who both pledged support for the Clean Water Project and made generous contributions on the spot.
Comedian Iftikhar Thakur delivered a memorable performance, eliciting loud laughter from the audience with his traditional jokes. He emphasised his specific purpose in attending was to support HNF’s fundraising efforts in the USA.
Mr. Farooq Mirza, President of the 4th Pillar organisation, announced that his group, as a media partner, would actively promote HNF’s cause both in the USA and Pakistan.
Concluding the evening, host Shahzad Anver extended heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Khalid Luqman Chaudhry and Madam Shakeela Luqman Chaudhry for their sincere efforts in organising the event.
