The initiative is chaired by Saima Suleman, former Cabinet Member for Digital Culture, Heritage and Tourism, and is led by a steering committee comprising community leaders, artists, academics, business professionals, and distinguished individuals from diverse backgrounds.Among the leadership team is Zahir Ahmed, who plays a prominent role in business and community engagement. He is the Director of MIA Property Group and an Executive Committee Member of the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce. Zahir Ahmed is recognised as one of the educated, patriotic, and progressive British Pakistanis who have devoted their talents and energies to promoting Pakistan’s positive image and strengthening community ties.Zahir Ahmed works tirelessly, day and night, to advance the mission of The Spirit of Pakistan. He believes that overseas Pakistanis are not only ambassadors of their homeland but also carry the responsibility of presenting Pakistan’s culture, values, achievements, and progress to the world in a positive and constructive manner.
One of his foremost objectives is to educate and inspire younger generations about Pakistan’s rich history, heritage, culture, opportunities for growth, and its promising future, while helping them maintain a strong connection with their national identity and roots.The core objectives of The Spirit of Pakistan include celebrating British-Pakistani culture, arts, heritage, and achievements; creating educational, cultural, and entrepreneurial opportunities for young people; and strengthening cultural, educational, commercial, tourism, and diplomatic ties between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
This initiative seeks not only to bring communities together in a peaceful and inclusive environment but also to provide a vibrant platform for young people, women, artists, and entrepreneurs to showcase their talents and contribute positively to society. It also aims to promote Pakistani products, craftsmanship, tourism, educational institutions, investment opportunities, and economic potential to strengthen Pakistan’s economy and enhance its global standing.
According to Zahir Ahmed, Pakistan is a beautiful, peaceful, and resource-rich country that is progressing steadily under capable leadership. He believes that Pakistan offers immense opportunities in economic development, education, tourism, technology, and investment, and that every Pakistani has a role to play in contributing to the nation’s growth and prosperity.He envisions a Pakistan that enjoys economic stability, peace, and prosperity—a country where tourists from around the world stand in line to experience its breathtaking mountains, lush valleys, historic landmarks, and renowned hospitality. His aspiration is for Pakistan to be recognised globally as a symbol of progress, peace, and opportunity.
Zahir Ahmed’s vision reflects the values of a positive-minded, moderate, and progressive British Pakistani. He wishes to see both Pakistan and the United Kingdom flourish as strong, peaceful, and prosperous nations. He firmly believes that promoting cultural, educational, and business collaborations between the two countries is essential for building a brighter future for generations to come.Under The Spirit of Pakistan, plans are also being developed to organise educational, cultural, and business exchange visits between Pakistan and the United Kingdom. These initiatives will enable students, academics, artists, entrepreneurs, and young professionals from both countries to learn from one another’s experiences and achievements. Such exchanges will create meaningful opportunities for future generations while further strengthening bilateral relations.
We remain in close contact with Pakistan. The Pakistan Consulate in Birmingham, the Pakistan High Commission in London, and senior diplomatic and government representatives from Pakistan regularly participate in and support our events and initiatives. Pakistani ministers, diplomats, and cultural representatives continue to endorse the programme and contribute towards its success.
