Syed Shahbaz the CEO of Pak Watan and Pak Watan TV was the Chief Host of this Programe . He was active in all Aushura Events in New York . The speakers jointly gave a message of peace , discipline, sacrifice and patience in life. They also said Imam Hussain was an example of sacrifice and patience. He surrendered his life for the honour of Islam. Great businessman Rouf Bhali said, Imam Hussain was the honour of Islam and lives in our heart.
The President of Red Lipstick and one of the Organizer Sulman Butt paid tribute to all participants and he further added that he names her daughter by the name Hussain. He also taught her the history of the sacrifices of Huzrat Ali. He also emphasised staying united and focused.
Safder Hamyyum, talking to the audience, said that I am humble like a dog and have no authority to talk about Imam Hussain. He said we need to be true Hussani in our lives and be practical. We need to keep practising Imam Hussain’s traditions practically. We need to bury hatred. We decorate the Quran Pak at tables and closets and never practice the Hussani School of Though.
Attia Shahnaz, advisor to the Mayor of New York expressed her pride in sitting among religious dignitaries and emphasised that Islam gained immense honour and reverence through the sacrifice of Imam Hussain. She stated that Imam Hussain belongs to all Muslims—there is no division or classification among them. Every individual must strive to live a disciplined life filled with sacrifice, as exemplified by Imam Hussain, who gave up his life in Karbala. She also highlighted that Imam Hussain was very close to the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), and that we must keep discipline in our lives. Even the innocent Ali Asghar was sacrificed in this noble cause.
She continued by saying that she admires the status of martyrdom attained by Imam Hussain. Through his sacrifice, we come to understand the true meanings of loyalty, self-control, and courage—this is the legacy of Karbala.
A third and vital point she raised was the role of Hazrat Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her). After the martyrdom of the companions on the 10th of Muharram, Allah Almighty elevated the leadership of a woman. In Karbala, the concept of sacrifice was not limited to men; it included the powerful leadership of Hazrat Zainab. She led the caravan with strength and stood in the court of Yazid with unwavering courage, challenging him boldly: “How can you call yourself a Muslim after martyring the Prophet’s grandson? Do you think your injustice will go unpunished?”
Her bravery and leadership became a beacon for generations. As long as Imam Hussain’s name lives on, so too will the message of justice, sacrifice, and unwavering faith.
Qari Masood in his address, reminded the audience of the divine command from Allah Almighty: “O believers, seek help through patience and prayer.” He emphasized that one of the greatest challenges we face today is the lack of patience. Another, he noted, is that although we are born into Muslim households, we often neglect the very prayer that Hazrat Imam Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him) never abandoned—even under a rain of arrows.
He pointed out that Imam Hussain, despite being deprived of water, still performed his prayers in the scorching plains of Karbala. In contrast, we live in comfort, with access to both cold and hot water and every convenience, yet we fail to fulfill this fundamental act of worship.
Qari Masood described the virtues of Imam Hussain as a river of musk—wherever you open it, its fragrance spreads. Days and nights may pass, but the beauty and depth of his character and sacrifice are endless.
He concluded by saying that Imam Hussain is the one whom the early Imams (peace be upon them) honored, even when others tried to humiliate him. Today, we gather to mourn and pay tribute to the one who gave everything for the sake of truth and justice.
Shams Zaman President of Pak American Society said in his charming address: “Millions prostrated before God, but Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him) prostrated in a way that even God did not notice, Subhan Allah!”
He added, “Respected scholars, ladies and gentlemen – what happened to the people of Karbala? We talk about the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), whose grandson we remember with every breath, we travel to Mecca and Medina, we talk about kissing the holy green nets with joy, yet we forget this.
“Today I talk about Hussain and his family, put your hands on your hearts, my sisters are here – remember the 6-month-old Ali Asghar, the brave and young Ali Akbar and Prince Qasim, remember the 15 people of the caravan. Imam Zainul Abideen wept despite being sick and I wished to look at the disciples. This state of the world?”
He called out to the beloved Prophet (peace be upon him) with devotion: “Lord of the worlds, Ahmad Mujtaba Muhammad Mustafa, Khatam al-Anbiya, Sayyid al-Anbiya, Imam al-Anbiya, Tajdar al-Madinah, Tajdar al-Khatam – the one whose words were divine, whose shoulders carried the blessed Hussain.”
He concluded with deep sorrow and reverence: “That same Hussain, who was the pride of the Prophet (peace be upon him), was martyred today in Karbala alone, without support.
*Baba Mushtaq Kamboh*, in his stirring address, stated that out of the 124,000 prophets, it was only the descendant of one—Imam Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him)—who established the legacy of Karbala. This monumental sacrifice, made possible through the spiritual strength of his grandfather, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), shook the entire Muslim Ummah to its core.
He urged the audience to honor this legacy with unwavering devotion. “For the sake of Allah,” he said, “stand firm with your chest forward, just as Hussain did. If your head must fall, let it fall on the path of righteousness. If you must sacrifice your children, then do so for the truth. If your tents are set ablaze, let them burn—but never abandon your stand for what is right.”
His words echoed the timeless message of Karbala: that truth, no matter the cost, must be upheld with courage, sacrifice, and unshakable faith.
*Pir Sardar Hussain Shah* concluded the gathering with heartfelt and auspicious prayers. He expressed that the martyrdom conference, the remembrance of Imam Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him), the acts of worship, the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, the Naats, and the narrations of the sayings of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were all noble offerings presented to the Lord of the Universe.
He prayed, “May Allah Almighty accept these humble efforts and grant us His blessings.”
