Mississauga Honours Pakistani-Canadian Lawyer with Prestigious 2025 Civic Award

Mississauga, Canada – In the City of Mississauga, one of the highest civic honours has been awarded to a resident whose service has significantly shaped law, education, and community life. Pakistani-Canadian Barrister & Solicitor, Muhammad Wajahat Faizan, has received the prestigious Civic Award of Recognition for 2025. This is one of Mississauga’s most selective distinctions, approved only after a formal review by City Council.

This year, just 26 individuals were recognized across the city and Faizan was the only honouree acknowledged for contributions in the field of legal work. The award adds to his growing list of national honours, including the King Charles III Coronation Medal, the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Award, and a special honour from Mayor Carolyn Parrish. For more than a decade, Faizan has expanded access to justice, supported newcomers, and strengthened civic engagement.

He has assisted thousands of families with real estate, estates, and corporate legal matters, often offering pro bono guidance to vulnerable communities. As a proud Pakistani-Canadian, he plays a leading role in public legal education, writes widely read legal articles, and delivers free community workshops. As an Adjunct Professor at Queen’s University, he mentors future legal professionals across Canada, and volunteers with the Law Society of Ontario to guide young lawyers.

His services extends globally, with volunteer work in the United States, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the UAE, and Bahrain, promoting fairness, justice, and inclusion. The Civic Award of Recognition stands as a testament to his leadership, community impact, and dedication to public good marking a decade of meaningful contribution from a distinguished Pakistani-Canadian voice in Mississauga.”
