Pakistan Condemns US Military Action in Venezuela as Clear Violation of UN Charter, Urges Diplomacy to Reduce Tensions

Pakistan has strongly condemned the recent US military operation in Venezuela as a blatant violation of the United Nations Charter, emphasizing the need for de-escalation through dialogue and diplomacy.

During an emergency session of the UN Security Council addressing the situation in Venezuela, Pakistan’s Acting Permanent Representative, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, expressed profound concern over the developments.

Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Jadoon stated that instability in the Caribbean region does not augur well for regional and global peace and security, especially as the world is already grappling with multiple crises.

He stressed that, in line with the UN Charter, states must refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any nation, and the Charter obligates non-interference in the internal affairs of others.

Ambassador Usman Jadoon described the unilateral military action as a violation of the UN Charter and the principle of sovereign equality of states.

He warned that such actions could weaken the foundations of the international legal order and lead to unpredictable and uncontrollable consequences in the coming years.

At this critical juncture, the Pakistani envoy asserted that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path forward, urging all parties to exercise maximum restraint, de-escalate tensions, and promote peaceful coexistence.
