Pakistan and Iran Strengthen Ties, Vow to Work for Regional Peace

Tehran, May 26, 2025  – Pakistan and Iran have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation across various fields, including trade, investment, and security, as part of their joint effort for regional peace and stability.

Speaking at a joint press conference at Sa’dabad Palace in Tehran, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s willingness to engage in dialogue with neighboring countries to resolve longstanding disputes, including water issues, the Kashmir conflict, and counter-terrorism efforts. He expressed Pakistan’s support for Iran’s civil nuclear program for peaceful purposes.

Calling Iran a “second home,” Prime Minister Sharif expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and reiterated the deep-rooted cultural and historical ties between the two nations. He shared that both countries aspire to transform their relationship into meaningful cooperation across multiple sectors.

Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian echoed these sentiments, underscoring the importance of strong bilateral relations between Iran and Pakistan. He noted that the two nations share common positions on platforms such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and emphasized the need for close collaboration, particularly in border security and counter-terrorism.

The leaders also condemned the ongoing crisis in Gaza, calling on the international community to act decisively to secure an immediate ceasefire. President Pezeshkian welcomed the ceasefire between Pakistan and India, expressing hope that peace and development could pave the way for regional prosperity.

With a renewed focus on dialogue and diplomacy, both Pakistan and Iran have pledged to continue consultations and constructive engagement for a peaceful and stable region.
