New York, NY – In a press conference held today, Hamyyun Shabbir , President of Pacoli New York, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, announced the decision to dissolve the organization due to irreconcilable differences between its leadership and founder, Qamar Bashir. The announcement follows months of internal conflicts that have hindered the organization’s operations.

Pacoli New York, registered as a non-profit in New York, is governed by its president and executive body, with members contributing to its community-focused initiatives. Shabbir clarified that Qamar Bashir, the founder, holds no formal position within the organization and thus lacks decision-making authority. “The president and executive body make decisions for Pacoli New York,” Shabbir emphasized, addressing recent tensions stemming from Bashir’s attempts to influence organizational matters.
The decision to dissolve Pacoli New York was reached after multiple executive meetings, with a majority vote from the eight-member board. Six members, including Shabbir , supported the dissolution, citing ongoing disputes with Bashir, who was accused of overstepping his role. Key incidents included disagreements over funding allocations and unauthorized actions. “These actions reflect a pattern of unilateral decision-making that cannot continue,” Shabbir stated.

Hamyyun highlighted a recent executive decision to allocate grants to members for approved non-profit programs, such as book launches and community events. However, disputes arose when Bashir opposed these allocations, leading to heated exchanges during a meeting attended by board members Salman Sheikh, Atiq Qadri, Azadar Asim, Madiha Kashif, and others. The recorded minutes of this meeting, as per the organization’s legal obligations, document Bashir’s objections .
Following the initial vote, additional meetings and discussions with members, including Siddiqui, Jamal Mohsin, Usman Abbas, and Salman Sheikh, failed to resolve the conflict. Hamyyun recounted an incident where Bashir exchange hard talk with him, stating, “If I throw you out of Pacoli, what face will you show in the city?” Hamyyun dismissed these threats, asserting his commitment to the organization’s integrity and legal compliance.
In a general meeting with 28 members, 25 supported the dissolution, with only two members, Salman Sheikh and Madiha Kashif, urging reconsideration.Hamyyun also addressed claims made in a separate press conference by Bashir, who took credit for initiatives like water plant installations in Pakistan. Shabbir clarified that these projects were proposed by other members, including Salman Sheikh and Asif Malik, and executed through partnerships with organizations like Al-Khidmat, not solely by Bashir’s efforts.

The dissolution process is underway, with Shabbir noting that the organization’s account, managed by Bashir, must be finalized and its funds donated to similar non-profits as per legal requirements. “We are working with the Attorney General’s office and the Tax Department to complete this process within days,” Shabbir said, adding that the organization’s bylaws prevent Bashir from unilaterally continuing Pacoli New York’s operations.
Sher expressed regret over the decision but emphasized the need for transparency and accountability. “Pacoli New York has served the community for over 15 years, but we cannot allow internal conflicts to undermine our mission,” he concluded, urging members to support the transition and ensure the organization’s legacy is preserved through proper closure.
